Our Namesake
Born Marie-Josèphe-Rose Tascher de La Pagerie on Martinique in 1763, she outlived a prison cell in the Terror to be crowned Empress of the French in 1804. Grace, taste and hospitality were her true influence; at the Château de Malmaison she gathered one of the most celebrated rose collections of her age.
Her roses climb across every bag we roast, and our signature Malmaison Roast takes its name from her garden.
